A few weeks ago I was luck enough to spend a week in Phoenix, AZ as a participant in the Apple Distinguished Educators Summer Institute 2011. I spend the entire week working with the greatest group of education professionals anywhere! I also had the opportunity to work with Pulitizer-Prize Winning photographer Bill Frakes and his assistant Laura Healds. They were both AWESOME to work with!

One highlight was the two evenings that we spend at Tonto National Forest, just outside of Phoenix. The idea was to do some light painting in the desert. Bill & Laura lead a group of aspiring photographers (myself included) through lighting a nightime scene with external sources. We used a bunch of flashlights (different temperatures) to light certain parts of the photograph.

My best couple examples are posted below. Check them out and let me know what you think.
